Safe Summer Shipping

Safe Summer Shipping
We want your wine to arrive just as beautifully as it left us—even in the heat of summer. That’s why we offer ice packs, premium packaging, and temperature-controlled shipping for many destinations across the U.S.

To protect your wine during the warmest months, we offer temperature-controlled shipping to select states. This method takes longer than standard ground, but it ensures your wine stays safe and cool throughout its journey—kept at a consistent 55°F until the final leg.

How it works

You can place your order any day of the week, but because shipments move through temperature-controlled facilities on a weekly schedule, when you order impacts how soon your wine will arrive.

  • Orders placed by Friday at noon (PT) ship the following Monday from Oregon to Napa.
  • The package is stored in a temperature-controlled Napa facility until Friday.
  • Your order is then shipped to a regional temp-controlled hub (TX, GA, MO, or NY).
  • Ice packs (if selected) are added at the final hub for added protection prior on the final leg of the journey.
  • From there, you wines are delivered to your address via standard ground (1–2 business days).
Estimated delivery
  • Orders placed between Saturday and Friday at 11:59 AM (PT): Estimated delivery in 7–11 business days.
  • Orders placed after Friday at noon (PT): Will not ship from Napa for another full week. Estimated delivery in 11–15 business days.

Adding ice packs to your order

To help protect your wine during summer, we offer optional ice packs and premium insulated packaging made from Green Cell Foam—a sustainable, compostable material that provides excellent thermal protection.

how it works:
  • When you add an ice pack to your order, we’ll automatically upgrade your shipment to include premium insulated packaging—at no additional charge.
  • Ordering a full case (12+ bottles)?
During the summer we’ll cover both the cost of ice packs and the premium insulated packaging—it’s our way of making sure your wine arrives in perfect condition, no matter how hot it gets. (Offer not valid on certain case sale promotions)

Note: Premium insulated packaging is only included when ice packs are selected. If you do not add ice packs to your order, your shipment will use standard packaging—even in summer.

For temperature-controlled shipping, ice packs are inserted at the final temp-controlled hub and protect your wine during the last 1–2 days of transit. They may arrive thawed, which is completely normal—they’ve done their job at keeping your wine cool.

where to ship to

Wine shipments require a signature from someone 21 or older. If no one is home to receive the delivery, your wine may be rerouted—onto a non-temperature-controlled truck. To avoid this:

We highly recommend using a FedEx or UPS pickup location or a business address (as long as someone 21+ will be available to sign) as your delivery destination. These climate-controlled locations are much safer than a hot truck or warehouse and will keep your wine protected until you can pick it up. It also helps you avoid missed deliveries, return fees, and the hassle and cost of reshipping.

options based on your state

If you don’t see the temp control option at checkout, your state may not be eligible. That’s usually because:

  • Standard ground shipping only takes an estimated 1–3 business days from Oregon to your area.
  • In these cases, simply add ice packs to your order, we’ll upgrade you to insulated packaging, and your wine will arrive safely!

For Hawaii, shipping is always via 2-Day Air, however we still recommend including ice packs and insulated pakaging for safe summer delivery.

Available Locations

We currently offer temperature-controlled shipping to the following states:
CO, CT, DC, FL, GA, IL, IA, KS, LA, ME, MD, MI, MN, MO, NE, NH, NY, NC, OH, PA, SC, SD, TN, TX, VT, VA, WI, and WY.

Don’t see your state listed? It may be due to shipping restrictions or fast standard ground transit times. In most cases, adding ice packs is a great alternative for safe summer delivery. If you have any questions, please contact us.

instructions
  1. Add your wines to your cart.
  2. If desired, add ice packs to your cart here.
    • You can add ice packs during checkout for $20 ($15 for members). When you do, we’ll also upgrade you to premium packaging at no extra charge.
    • Ordering a full case (12+ bottles)? We’ll cover the cost of ice packs and premium packaging—but you’ll still need to add the ice pack to your cart. The discount will apply automatically.
  3. Enter your shipping address to see what shipping options are available to you. (FedEx/UPS pick-up location or business address highly recommended).
  4. Choose your shipping method.
    • Temperature-controlled shipping: Unless you live in AZ, CA ID, MT, NV, ND, OR, or WA, temperature-controlled shipping is the safest ground option—it keeps your wine at a consistent 55°F up until the final leg of the journey. It takes a little longer, but it’s the best way to protect your wine in extreme heat.
    • 2-Day Air: This also a safe option during summer and delivers faster. If you’re choosing 2-Day Air, we still recommend adding ice packs.
    • Standard Ground: If temperature-controlled shipping isn’t available to your state (AZ, CA, ID, MT, NV, ND, OR, or WA), standard ground with ice packs and insulated packaging is a safe option. Transit time to these states is typically just 1–3 days, minimizing heat exposure while keeping your wine protected.
  5. Place your order.
  6. Watch for your tracking link.
  7. Enjoy delicious Dundee Hills wines all summer long!
