Description

Vintage Notes

Heavy rains in April of 2021 impacted pollination in the vineyard and resulted in a relatively light fruit crop. This was followed by record setting heat and consistently dry conditions throughout the summer. The combination of low yield and ample warmth proved to be conducive to optimal ripening and produced wines of exceptional balance, intensity, and grace in the Willamette Valley.

Our Chardonnay comes from Block I, a lower-elevation site in our vineyard characterized by deep soils and afternoon sun exposure. While lower-elevation sites in our vineyard typically ripen earlier, this block was harvested later yet retained its bright acidity. Following harvest, the wine was fermented entirely in barrel, with lees stirred by hand four times daily until dry, then weekly for several months as it completed full malolactic fermentation—our only white to do so. The Chardonnay then remained in barrel for 10 months, developing depth and texture while balancing richness with bright acidity.

Tasting Notes

Hints of brioche, white peach, and Meyer lemon delicately mingle, creating a balance of aromas that are both rich and refreshingly bright. On the palate, vibrant citrus takes center stage, lifted by lively acidity. Bâtonnage and barrel aging lend a soft creaminess, enhancing both texture and complexity. A subtle flinty note adds depth and intrigue, complementing the wine’s mineral-driven profile. The result is a Chardonnay that is layered and expressive, with a refined elegance that lingers beautifully on the finish.
