Description
vintage notes
Every vintage tells its own story, yet the 2022 Domaine Lumineux Cuvée Pinot Noir reveals one of resilience and extraordinary balance. The season began with generous rainfall and warm spring days that encouraged early bud break across our Dundee Hills vineyard. Then, a rare April frost swept through Oregon’s Willamette Valley, pausing growth and hinting at smaller yields. The vines, however, adapted—proof of the site’s remarkable vitality.
That early-season moisture sustained a lush, protective canopy through the warmth of summer. As autumn arrived, dry, temperate weather extended the ripening window, allowing fruit to mature slowly and evenly. With minimal rain pressure, winemaker Dave Petterson was able to pick at the perfect moment, achieving deeply colored, complex fruit with outstanding natural acidity and balance.
This estate-grown Pinot Noir is composed of clone 667 (32%), 777 (31%), Pommard (15%), 114 (15%), and 115 (7%), aged ten months in French oak (31% new). The resulting Oregon Pinot Noir is both expressive and poised—an intricate portrait of place and season.
Tasting Notes
The 2022 Domaine Lumineux Cuvée Pinot Noir opens with aromas of ripe red berries, mild spice, aged tangerine peel, cedar, and a hint of chocolate orange. The palate is supple yet structured, showing vivid flavors of cranberry, plum, and a trace of cocoa. Subtle notes of mint, clove, and forest earth add depth, while fresh acidity and fine tannins carry through a long, even finish. Balanced and expressive, this Dundee Hills wine reflects the clarity and composure that define Willamette Valley Pinot Noir.
